You're invited to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Columbia Chronicle. Join us in honoring the past and celebrating the future of one of the highest-rated student-produced newspapers of its kind. Reminisce with alumni spanning the decades and connect with current Chronicle students, faculty, staff, and special guests.

Mary MitchellMary Mitchell ’91, HDR '18, Columnist, Chicago Sun-Times
Mary Mitchell is an editorial board member and columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times. She joined the Sun-Times in 1991 as an education writer, and has covered city hall, the federal courts and authored several award-winning series before becoming a columnist in 1995. Mitchell has received numerous journalism and civic awards, including the Award of Excellence from the National Association of Black Journalists, the Studs Terkel Award from the Community Media Workshop; and the Peter Lisagor Award from the Chicago Headline Club. In 2004, Crain’s Chicago Business honored her as one of the 100 Most Influential Women in the city. In 2012, Mitchell received the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chicago Headline Club.


Hunter ClaussHunter Clauss '08, Digital Editor, WBEZ
Hunter Clauss joined WBEZ as a digital editor in 2016, almost a decade after he interned at the station. Between that timespan, he freelanced for the Chicago Reader, covered city hall for the Chicago News Cooperative, and followed breaking news for the Chicago Sun-Times. He won an Investigative Reporters and Editors award in 2007 for his reporting on nepotism in the Chicago City Council. He is also a four time Lisagor Award loser.

$45 registration for alumni, faculty, staff, and guests- includes dinner, drinks, entertainment, and more. Spouse/guests are welcome to register.

$10 student registration- includes dinner, entertainment and more.


Attire: City Chic (a mix of business casual or cocktail attire)


All donations will specifically support the newly establish Chronicle Gift Fund at Columbia College Chicago.
